Spring is here—27 ways to make it your best one yet

Spring is just about to get started - flowers start blooming, the days get brighter and longer - and you crave to soak up all this fresh energy after the winter months.

But as so often, we are busy human beings and after the first excitement - boom. The season flies by and by the end you feel like you missed out on it.

Now, this won’t happen this year (and all the years coming from now).

Because we will intentionally live and experience the seasons, filling it with lots of things and activities that bring joy, happiness and excitement.

So read on, because I’m about to share 27 ideas how to make this the best spring yet even if you’re a super busy woman, because most of the ideas are actually pretty simple to implement.

Just a quick note here: This is part of the seasonal living series, so if you’d like to get a proper introduction to the seasonal living concept, make sure to check out this post.

Celebrate the New Beginning

  1. Vision journalling: Think about what worked in the last year and what didn’t. What do you want to bring into this new season, and what’s to leave behind? How do you want to feel this season - and what actions can you take to get there?

  2. Set fresh intentions: If you haven’t yet, now’s the perfect time. You don’t have to wait for New Year, the start of a new season is just as suitable and let’s you see it as kind of a “mini-year” in the year.

  3. Create a vision board that aligns with you: Based on your journal entries, you know now the vibe you envision for the upcoming season.
(I actually like to do this over winter, because this is a wonderful season to reflect with time and space. But as spring embodies new beginnings, it’s also a wonderful thing to kick the season off with this practice - or basically anytime you need a fresh start in general).

  4. Refresh your wardrobe with intention: Hop over on pinterest and pin any style that resonates with you. Don’t think too much about it, just pin anything that catches your attention. Then, take a look at all your pins and identify the common pieces - what colors, textures and styles make you feel excited and alive? Now, go back to your wardrobe and shop your closet.

  5. Spring equinox yoga practice: No matter whether you’re into this kind of stuff or not, I feel it’s just a fun and feminine way to embrace the start of spring.

Refresh Your Space

  1. Declutter with purpose: Release what no longer serves you or aligns with you. You should have a general idea about this based on the journaling and vision board session (see above points 1-4). If there are things that you don’t longer need but are still nice, repurpose them. For example, I’ve got this beautiful vase of a winter candle that is burnt down by now, so I cleaned it and use it to store my bath salts.

  2. Spring swap: One of my favorite things to do. Swap out your wardrobe, fresh up your bed sheets with lighter fabrics and fresh colours, and change the seasonal decor from winter to spring.

  3. Open your windows first thing in the morning: Now the sun is already out in the morning, the birds are singing and the air is fresh but not icecold anymore. Is there a better way to start the day?

  4. Bring in some spring-inspired scents: imagine lavender or citrus - use essential oils, candles or linen sprays.

Fill Your Space With Life

  1. Bring yourself flowers: Self-love is not just about talking, but about acting like it. Bring yourself weekly fresh flowers, pre-arranged or make it a fun activity by picking it yourself in the flower fields.

  2. Add greenery: If you bring green into your home, it brings life into it. I’m not good at all with plants, so succulents are the best option for me. There are many types out there, find the ones that suits you, your lifestyle and mood.

Refresh Your Routine

  1. Switch up your morning rituals: Your routines are here to serve you, and your energy changes with the seasons. Use this chance to switch it up a little bit, maybe implement some light stretching in the sun or having your tea (or coffee) outdoors in the backyard.

  2. Introduce a new hobby: Spring is all about fresh starts and fresh energy, so it’s the best time to joni that painting class you’ve always wanted to. Or start dancing, or flower pressing. The list is truly endless.

  3. Barefoot grounding: We are so used to always protect our feet with socks and shoes that it ironically might almost feel unnatural to be barefoot at home or in the grass. However, it helps to strengthen different muscles in your feet and legs. Furthermore, it reduces stress and improves mood. I want to say though that this is not scientifically backed and most likely just a placebo effect - but hey, in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with free placebos that have a positive impact on you.

  4. Spring slow moments: Read your book outside in the sun, or go for a stroll after dinner to enjoy the sunset time.

Spring Foods and Flavors

  1. Eat seasonally and locally: What you get seasonally naturally serves the spring vibes. Think light and fresh - asparagus, radishes, peas, leafy greens, strawberries, citrus.

  2. Infused water: In the morning, get a nice water bottle and add ice, cucumber, lemon and mint (or other herbs that you like). Experiment with it.

  3. Visit the local farmers' market: Get the freshest produce and connect with local growers. It also helps to see the work behind and feel more grateful for the food that you get otherwise so casually in the store.

  4. Start picnics: Take your meals outdoors, even if it’s just the backyard (and of course, make it really cozy).

Get Outdoors

  1. If you ever wanted to start gardening: now you should do it.

  2. Cozy backyard: Make your outdoor space ready and cozy. You can also easily fresh it up with some new cushions, fairy lights and candles.

  3. Mindful walks: Having a dog, I go of course daily. And honestly, it’s something I should have implemented before having my pup. It is so relaxing and resetting for mind and body, and seing how everything comes to life is truly inspiring. 4. Get your workout outdoors: No matter if it’s cycling, hiking, yoga in the backyard or your balcony, or a run in the forest.

  5. Spend slow weekends out and about: Visit a botanical garden, go for a lakeside walk and grab an icecream, go on a countryside exploring drive or, again, a picnic in a flower field.

Some Quick Extra Ways

  1. Spring Sound: Switch up your music playlist to uplifting sounds like indie, or light classical music.

  2. Spring Smell: If you’re a perfume person (I am), consider switching to a lighter, floral perfume to bring the spring vibe anywhere you’re going.

  3. Spring Reading: Create a springtime reading list - feel-good novels, light-hearted romances, or Bridgerton (if you know, you know).

Are we excited yet for spring? I for sure am! 🌸
